[x] Called by the Nut Low

Last week Danielle's basketball team came over for "poker night". Apparently she told them I'm a professional poker player and they all adamant that I had to teach them all how to play. The next day at the casino I was a little rough around the edges, and when I explained to Quantum Hoops how seven twenty something year old women whose poker knowledge varied from zero to a little came over to play poker his instant response was "So you had to get drunk, you really had no choice." But the night was fun, and it ended with me playing some .5/1 online, a further attempt to get my HEM line for those stakes to show up as green.

In all my life I do not think I have ever been called, on the river, by the nut low. Why didn't I bet the turn? I figured he had a pair and was taking my free card because he'd never fold. Why did I bet the river? I changed my mind. I probably misplayed the hand, but the fact remains that he called me on the river with the nut low, paying off my 3rd nut low.

Back to my regular games, I just found this hand fun today. CO is in the group of players that have recently caused me to force the "deep navy blue" color into service in my full tilt not taking to denote "incomprehensibly bad". I had previously been using purple to mean "as bad as possible" but this fellow and two others have put themselves in a class all their own.

please email me the screen name of T8 nut low, it's got to be neal, he's the only person I've ever seen call with a nut low in holdem (can be confirmed by torello who was sitting right next to me when he flashed his hand to us) LOL.

65o is so much better than AA (actually 6x is better than anything), sorry you had to learn the tough way. You should NEVER doubt the six :p

What color am I?

In the first hand, he probably didn't ever recognize that he had the nut low.

In the second hand, he has a pair, and even if both you preflop aggressors have big pocket pairs instead of AK, he still has outs. I mean a 4 or a 7 would give him a open ender. A pair plus a back door double gutter is a powerful draw. Besides sucking out on guys with big pocket pairs is what makes fishy poker fun.

Meanwhile, check out this news from your old stamping ground:

I think you invite the basketball girls over for your weekly Poker Tournament/Pillow Fight night...

Patrick you're most definitely red, not necessarily because you're the bestest player in the world, but because that's the color of people I try to avoid and I don't want to cramp your style by coming up in your games and hope you'll show me the same courtesy.

And I can't believe Garden City is not only moving but building a 600 room hotel. I mean holy crap.

I have seen you in some great games lately, and you are playing much more recently, so eventually we may have to cramp each others style.

So instead of bothering you, I get in games with studholdem or jbnrkr who simply can't miss against me. I am also in games often with rogue, but he doesn't always hit against me, so hes cool.

And yes I have been giving you the same respect, because I have seen you had reserved seats at my table and then leaving, even once when you had the jesus seat.

Passing on that Jesus Seat was very difficult. Glad you noticed :)
